I am a native of the upstate of South Carolina where my father was a Methodist Minister and my mother raised 5 boys. (I am the baby of the family) I began my radio career in 1986 while at Wofford College in Spartanburg South Carolina. I graduated from Wofford in 1988 with a B.A. in English. I started full time in radio in 1990, met my wife to be in 1994 and we were married in 1995. My father passed away in November of 2002 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. We were very lucky the next year to have identical twin sons named Kai and Whistler who were born December 22nd 2003. As many of you know we had a long hard road to get them into the world and feel so blessed to have them, I am just sorry my Dad never got to meet them. Kai is the Hawaiian word for ocean and Whistler is a beautiful ski mountain in Canada that we have visited seven times in the last decade. Here are some recent photos of them...

That said I love the outdoors, especially snow skiing though I don't get to do that as much as I'd like to. I enjoy watching college basketball and football and pro football as well. I love Mexican food, pizza, and even like Sushi! Some of my favorite country artists are Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban and Jo Dee Messina. I am a bit of a gadget freak, so if you have any questions about HDTV, Tivo, Slingbox, wireless routers and the like email me and I might be able to help you! I like nothing better than spending time with my family.

Life Is The Coffee

I usually out forwarded emails right into the deleted folder but I thought this one was pretty good. I don't know who wrote it, but I will give credit where credit is due if you can tell me who wrote it. Read this...it gives a bit of perspective in a rush rush go go tiworld we live in.
LIFE IS THE COFFEE
A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor.
The conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain-looking, some expensive and some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the coffee.
After all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: "If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress."
"Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee."
"In most cases, it's just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups...and then began eying each other's cups."
"Now consider this: Life is the coffee. The jobs, houses, cars, things, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain life, and the type of cup we have does not define nor change the quality of life we live. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee God has provided us. God brews the coffee, not the cups . . . enjoy your coffee."
"Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect, it means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections."
