About Me:
I've been working for WNOE for most of my "grown up" life. I've seen many different co-workers come & go, but WNOE listeners are what make working here such a great pleasure!  I was born & raised in New Orleans. I went to high school at Mount Carmel  academy & spent a couple of years at Loyola. But, I got my B.A. in Mass Communications from the University of Denver in Colorado. After graduating from college, I came home to N.O. & went to work for the local NPR station - doing afternoon classical & news anchoring shifts (even some jazz!). Soon after, WNOE hired me part-time & for a few years I was on-air 7 days a week! Over the years I've worked at several other types of stations in the market, including smooth jazz, classic rock, oldies & alt. rock.
I'm one of seven kids! I have a brother who's an actor. He has a movie coming out soon called "American Gangster" with Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington. I also have a brother who's a big deal at Google - heading up engineering their "print project". My youngest sister is about to become a lawyer! I've got a brother who's vice-pres of children's programming at P.B.S., and a sister who's an editor at Duke University Press. My "little" brother Bob likes to play music a lot. I am married to a wonderful guy named David, and we have a delightful daughter named Samantha (aka "Sammy cat)". Sam got her nickname because of her great love of cats. Dave & I love cats too. We have 2 at our house (& one new cat that we think belongs to someone on our street, but who likes us a lot- ha!). I love all kinds of music, but am glad to be working at a station that plays music that small ears can listen to (if ya' know what I mean). I love doing my weekend airshifts &  the TV voice-over jobs I do are fun as well. During the "work week" I've started substitute teaching for Jefferson Parish Public Schools, which is very rewarding (and a bit challenging at times). I now have even more respect for full-time teachers than ever before. It's tiring to teach, but it makes me appreciate my weekend gig here at WNOE that much more!

If you liked "A New Earth" try this book!
Friday 07-25-2008 5:56pm CT
SO, Hopefully you got a chance to read the last book I recommended, A New Earth. If not, try this other book by the same author. It's called The Power of Now. It was actually written first, but I read them out of order. Actually, I read them TOGETHER - alternating back and forth. They go over some of the same concepts, and each helps to re-inforce the other. I hope you'll try them, or one of them. Again - the author's name is Eckhardt Tolle. The books are The Power of Now and A New Earth. You'll see what I mean when you start reading!
Just read a GREAT new book!

Read an excerpt from 'A New Earth' by Eckhart Tolle. Have you heard about this book A New Earth? It's by a man named Eckhardt Tolle. I just finished reading it & it was AMAZING! If you ever struggle with feelings of anxiety, anger, sadness, guilt - any sort of stress - this book can teach you a way of going about living your life in a much more peaceful & satisfying way. The book is a best seller & read all over the world. It's easy to find in any book store - even at Sam's Club & places like that. Hope you'll check it out. Feel free to email me & share your impressions of it! There's a link to email me  on the left of this page. Hope you enjoy the book!
A chance to RECYCLE - once a month, on both sides of the river in Jefferson Parish!
Wednesday 05-21-2008 4:25pm CT
More good news on the recycling fromt - Jefferson Parish is holding regular recycling drives now. So, if you aren't already saving your recyclable materials, START NOW! Save all your plastics numbered 1 - 7, aluminum & tin, cardboard, paperboard, newspaper, office paper & even junk mail!

The next drive is Saturday, My 31, 2008 from 9am-Noon at the Joe Yenni Bldg. in Elmwood. Or, if you're on the Westbank, go to the Alario Center to drop your stuff, also from 9AM to Noon.  Again - they'll accept all plastics labeled #'s 1-7, steel, tin and aluminum cans, newspapers, phone books, office paper, cardboard, paperboard, and junk mail. No need to separate it - and you don't even have to get out of your car! Hope you'll join my family in some much needed Earth-friendlieness! ; )  The more of us who do it, the less trash that goes in landfills.  For more information, call the Jefferson Parish Department of Environmental Affairs at (504) 731-4612. THANKS FOR RECYCLING!!!
