There were some rumors Jake Owen would play the halftme show at the National championship… he won’t, but he will headline the Discover Halftime Show at the Discover Orange Bowl on New Year's Day. Xenia -- from the first season of The Voice -- will sing the National Anthem prior to kickoff. The Orange Bowl will feature the Florida State and Northern Illinois. The game airs January 1st at 7 on ESPN.

 

Best wishes for a speedy recovery go out to Jana Kramer, after coming down with an illness Saturday in West Palm Beach, Florida. Opening for Alan Jackson, Jana had to cut her set mid-performance when her voice gave out. Sick with a 101-degree fever, Jana sought treatment at a local hospital with rumored boyfriend Brantley Gilbert, who tried to cheer her up by her bedside. She tweeted, “I’m okay. I’m on morphine and lots of liquid and other stuff #dehydration, #flu, #etc.” Jana has been released from the hospital. She turned 29 Sunday.

Blake Shelton rings in the holidays tonight with his Not-So Family Christmas special, airing at 9 on NBC. Wife Miranda Lambert, mom Dorothy Shackleford, Kelly Clarkson, Reba, Christina Aguilera, Larry the Cable Guy and Jay Leno will also be on the show.

 

Shania Twain hit Sin City over the weekend to launch her Vegas show Shania: Still the One at Caesars Palace. The 100-minute show chronicled Shania’s rise to fame and included roughly eight costume changes. “I’m Gonna Getcha Good” was the opening number of Shania’s first live performance in eight years. Wearing a sequined black catsuit, she made her grand entrance riding atop a glistening motorcycle that hovered high above the crowd.  The set list included “From This Moment On,” “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” and “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”  Shania has nine more shows through December 15th. The next engagement opens March 19th.

 

Carrie Underwood will star as Maria Von Trapp in a live television production of The Sound of Music which will air on NBC as a three-hour special next year around the holidays.
