A new grocery store is scheduled to open in Mid-City Tuesday morning.
Whole Foods Market Broad Street will open at 9am following an 8:15am bread breaking ceremony. Instead of cutting a ribbon to open a new store, Whole Foods officials break bread, which is a company tradition.
Located at 300 North Broad Street, at the corner of Bienville Street, the 25,000 square foot store is the third Whole Foods Market in the New Orleans area. The other two are in Metairie and Uptown.
Whole Foods spokesperson Kristina Bradford says the new store will have "fresh produce, our 365 every day value products, full service seafood and meat counters. We'll feature a variety of imported domestic cheese, charcuterie, artisan bakery."
"We will also have two healthy eating educators on site who will be doing classes and tours, Bradford said.
The store will employ 125 fulltime and parttime workers and will be open daily from 8am to 8pm.
