The three companies competing to lease the two public hospitals in Jefferson Parish made public presentations to the parish council Thursday - each pitching why they should be selected to run East Jefferson General Hospital and West Jefferson Medical Center.
The three companies are Ochsner Health System, Louisiana Children's Medical Center and Hospital Corporation of America (HCA).
Following the presentations, the council went into executive session to talk privately.
But council chairman Chris Roberts made it clear in open session that the council would not make a selection on Thursday.
"There will not be a vote taken today. So therefore, there will be no formal act when we come out from executive session," Roberts said.
Roberts announced after the executive session that more meetings are planned before a selection is made.
"We anticipate that the hospital boards will meet again within a week. Following that, it is the intent of the council to schedule a session strictly to deal with the hospitals to take a vote at that time," Roberts said.
